About
Hi! I'm Paul Miranda, a frontend software developer based in Mexico. I got interested in programming when I was in high school when I learnt how videogames are made. Since I was a child I enjoyed playing video games and later got interested on how they were created. Researching this topic is how I learnt about the computer science and developed a great interest for it. I love researching and practicing with multiple programming languages and making apps that solves some of the necessities I have everyday.
I also have a very deep interest in UX/UI design. I try to learn as much as I can about this topic and practice it designing my own designs (Some of the projects mentioned in the "Projects" section are designed by me!).
Some of the technologies I have worked with are:
  • Typescript
  • React
  • NodeJS
  • Javascript
  • C#
  • Python

I'm not very good at cooking, so from time to time I call my mom for recipes. She always gives me new and tasty recipes to try, but paper notes are easily lost. That's why I thought it was a good idea to create a web app where me and my brothers (or other people) can add, search, and share new recipes and always have them at hand without having to search through messy notes. I chose to make this app using GraphQL because I really like this technology. I also felt that it would be well-suited for my needs because a recipe has a lot of information, such as ingredients, quantities, and number of people, that I needed to fetch.

My girlfriend had a very cute dog named Penny. She was a pretty charming little pup that always made us smile with her funny photos and stories. I wanted to create a space where my girlfriend could post all the photos of Penny she wanted and have a place where all her photos were together, so we could look at them from time to time. Also, anyone can upload photos of their pets! We love animals, so we enjoy seeing other people's pets. For the design of this page, I took a lot of inspiration from Instagram. One of the challenges I had with this app was the MongoDB integration, since the data in this type of app is deeply related.

In one of my past jobs, they had this fun dynamic where anyone could make and share an expo about any topic. If you liked some series of books, movies, games, etc., you could make an expo and share it with everyone. I wanted to teach my teammates how CSS Grid and Sass work, so I made an expo with a dynamic web page that included all the fundamentals of CSS Grid and Sass. I also created some examples for them to try and play with on Codepen, this way they would always have these examples at hand when they needed it.

I've been learning Japanese for a couple of years. For the final project of my Japanese course, I had to make something that included all the topics covered in that semester. I decided to make a web page, since that's what I'm good at, and with my classmates we all gathered a lot of examples and grammar topics to display on the page. It was fun because I had to teach some of my non-IT classmates how JSON worked and how to format the data so it could be displayed on the page. Since it was a project that had to be done quickly, I used MaterialUI for the interface components.
